"Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food", a very famous saying by the Greek physician Hippocrates, makes a lot of sense in today's day and age. The right kind of nutrition plays a significant role in our life. It forms the basis for both our physical as well as our mental well-being. Everybody is different in respect to what their body requirements are and in terms of nutrition. One of the topics in this field of study that interests me is digestion.
I am from India, currently living in Toronto, Canada, pursuing a Culinary Management (Work-integrated) diploma from George Brown College. Being from India, the practice of yoga played a significant role in my life growing up. There are a lot of benefits of daily yoga practice, benefits which aid in every bodily function. Yoga improves digestion-related problems by strengthening the digestive system through breathing techniques (Davidson, 2021, para 3). Now, I know how physical activity aids in the proper functioning of digestion. I want to learn how nutrition aids and affects the process of digestion. As the food we eat is broken down by our digestive system into nutrients our body needs. It's crucial for those especially, the people who make a living in the food industry, to know about the nutritional information of the food they produce for the consumers as they are the ones who are affected by it. More importantly, the correct nutritional information we have, the better choice of food we can make. It has a positive effect on issues like increasing carbon footprint, shortage of food, etc. (Westbrook et al, 2018, para 3).
Nutrition is a subject that requires our sincerest attention. As we all know, there are various sources to get information these days, but we should pay close attention to the origin and check whether it is credible or verified. It might help in minimizing confusion and increase our productivity. To verify our sources or check if they are verified or not, we can use these three easy ways are as follows:
Check the background that is the qualifications of the author.
Check the domain of the website. For Example, .edu and.org or .gov are generally regarded as credible.
We must always check if the website cites its sources efficiently or not.
Nutrition is key to our mental and physical well-being, which can, in turn, might help our planet to combat the calamities we face in our not-so-far future.
